Five days across the border for Tanzania’s two heavyweights. The Serengeti’s plains hold the migration in the months the Mara does not, and its resident lion prides are the largest in Africa. Then the road climbs through highland forest to the rim of Ngorongoro, and the next morning you drop six hundred metres onto a crater floor that works like a natural amphitheatre of wildlife.
